Where Montego Bay actually is, and why that matters

Getting there and getting to your hotel

What a day out costs

Tipping is customary and is not built into any fare. A few dollars per person for the guide and the same for the driver is normal, and on the trips where somebody has spent the morning coaxing your family onto a horse it is well earned.
When to go
The north coast is warm all year. The wetter months bring short heavy showers rather than washouts, and river trips run straight through them because you are getting wet anyway. What weather actually changes is the sea, and therefore the boat days.
