Can I cancel a Montego Bay Jamaica booking?

Does hotel pickup come with a Montego Bay Jamaica tour?

Where do the tours pick up from?
The main lobby of your hotel or villa in almost every case. Wait there 10 to 15 minutes before your slot; drivers work to a route rather than a fixed time and pickup windows shift with traffic.
What time do pickups start?
Full-day trips to the Ocho Rios waterfalls collect from about 6:30 to 7:30 in the morning. Half-day river trips are usually later, and the catamaran cruises often run in the afternoon.
How long is the transfer from the airport?
About 30 minutes from Sangster International to most hotels in the city. Negril, Falmouth, Runaway Bay and Ocho Rios are considerably further and are booked as separate transfers.
Can cruise passengers book these tours?
Yes. Several operators collect at the port 30 minutes after docking and return you there. Give your ship name, docking time and re-boarding time when you book so the driver can build the day around the ship.
Families, ages and access
Are Montego Bay day tours suitable for children?
Many are. Minimum ages run from 3 or 4 on the river trips up to 16 with a valid driving licence for ATVs and dune buggies. The age band is listed on each tour page.
Which trips work with a stroller or an infant seat?
The Martha Brae raft trip, the Blue Hole and Dunn's River day trip, the Kingston museum day and the airport transfer all state infant seats or stroller access. Ask for the seat when you book rather than on the day.
Are the tours wheelchair accessible?
None of the trips listed here is. If mobility is a factor, the private transfer and the bamboo raft trips involve the least walking, and a private vehicle gives you the most control over the day.
Is there a weight limit on the activities?
Yes, and it varies by activity. The park pass publishes limits of 230 lb for horseback riding, 265 lb for the zipline and 400 lb for the ATV, and the UTV safari is not suitable above 350 lb.
How big are the groups?
Stated caps range from 15 travellers on the smallest river trips to several hundred at the big adventure parks. Each tour page carries its own figure, and where the operator does not publish one we leave the row out rather than guess.
What should I bring on a Montego Bay tour?
Closed-toe shoes, a swimsuit worn under your clothes, a towel, a change of clothes, sunscreen, a waterproof phone case and small notes for tips and lunch. On the adventure parks add a full-length top and a driving licence if you want the ATV. Everything else can stay at the hotel.
The rivers, the falls and the water
What is the Blue Hole, and is it the same as Dunn's River Falls?
They are two different places about twenty minutes apart. The Blue Hole is a chain of deep turquoise pools you jump and swim in; Dunn's River Falls is a wide limestone staircase of water you climb.
How far is Dunn's River Falls from Montego Bay?
It sits near Ocho Rios on the north coast, and the drive runs about two hours each way. Every trip that includes it from here is a full day.
What is bamboo rafting?
A 30-foot bamboo raft with a bench for two, poled downstream by a captain who stands at the front. It is slow, calm and dry unless you choose to slip into the water.
What is river tubing?
You sit in an inflated tube and float a river with a guide alongside, through calm stretches and a few small rapids. A life jacket and helmet are provided and no experience is needed.
Is Dunn's River Falls hard to climb?
It is a guided scramble over wet limestone, taken as a linked chain of hands with a guide leading. Most travellers manage it comfortably, and a dry stairway runs alongside for anyone who would rather watch.
Do I need water shoes?
For the falls and the Blue Hole, yes. Some operators sell or hire them on site, but bringing your own is cheaper and they will fit.
Money and what is not in the fare
Do I tip the guide and driver?
Tipping is customary in Jamaica and is excluded from every fare here. Small US or Jamaican notes are easiest, and a few dollars per person per guide is normal.
Which currency should I carry?
Jamaican dollars for small purchases and US dollars for almost everything aimed at visitors. Every fare here is quoted in US dollars, per person.
What is not included in the fare?
Usually gratuities, and often lunch, drinks, lockers and photo packages. The exclusions are listed on each tour page so you know what to budget for.
Are there hidden costs?
One worth flagging: a trip that names bamboo rafting in its title may charge a further $10 per person for it on the day. Read the excluded list before you book, not after.
Do prices change through the year?
Operators set their own fares and adjust them seasonally. What you see here was captured on a fixed date and the live listing is what binds when you pay.
Montego Bay itself
Do I need a car in Montego Bay?
Not if you book trips. Jamaica drives on the left, the coast road is slow, and every attraction worth the day is 40 minutes to 2 hours away, which is exactly what a pickup solves.
What is Rick's Cafe?
Rick's Cafe is a cliffside bar and restaurant on Negril's West End, known for its sunset and its cliff divers. Two of the ATV trips on this coast deliberately finish there.
What is Chukka Ocean Outpost?
An adventure park at Sandy Bay, west of the city, where a single pass covers horseback riding into the sea, ziplines, ATVs, catamaran cruises and a beach club. Pickup from Montego Bay and Negril hotels is included. Age, height and weight limits differ by activity, so check yours before you book.
Is Montego Bay good for snorkelling?
Yes. The reef inside Montego Bay Marine Park is the usual anchorage. Not every catamaran listing says it supplies the mask and fins, so bring your own if the fit matters to you.
Is there a Bob Marley tour Montego Bay travellers can do in a day?
Yes. A private trip runs across the island to the Bob Marley Museum in Kingston with a Devon House stop, six to eight hours door to door.
Can I fit more than one trip into a single day?
Only if one of them is a half day. The waterfall day trips and the park pass fill eight to nine hours once the road is counted.
What happens if it rains?
River and beach trips usually run — you are getting wet anyway. Where a listing depends on good weather, the operator offers another date or a full refund.
