Read enough feedback across these operators and the same handful of themes come back, whichever trip is being described.
- The guide makes the day. Travellers name individual drivers and guides far more often than they name the attraction, and the trips with the warmest feedback are the ones where somebody took time over a nervous first-timer.
- Pickup time is not start time. The most common complaint by some distance is a collection window that moved. Confirming directly with the operator the day before removes almost all of it.
- The drive is longer than people expect. Reviewers on the trips heading east or deep inland regularly note that the road takes as long as the activity. It is worth checking the drive against the time on site before you choose.
- Extras arrive on the day. Bamboo rafting on one combination costs a further ten dollars, lockers are charged at the parks, and photo packages are sold on site. Travellers who knew that in advance mention it neutrally; those who did not, mention it loudly.
- Food and hospitality outrank the scenery. Jerk chicken lunches, fruit picked at the roadside and being fed at somebody's home get more words than the waterfalls do.
The places that draw the warmest write-ups are consistent: Dunn's River Falls for the climb itself, the Blue Hole for the jumping, the Martha Brae for the hour of doing nothing, and the Bob Marley Museum for the small groups it takes through the house.
